ICING INSTRUCTIONS

When you are ready to decorate your cookies or cookie house:

Step 1

Stir your icing bags by gently massaging the outside of the icing bags for 3 minutes. If you see food color or liquid separation massage bags until everything is mixed in fully

The warmth and gentle movement from your hands will stir everything together perfectly. Be patient. Be gentle.

Step 2

Hold the icing bags with seems toward sky. With scissors, snip the tips off each icing bag.

We recommend cutting only the tip of the bag - about half a centimetre. The smaller the cut the more control you will have over your icing.

Step 3

If you’re decorating cookies: Squeeze the icing bag slowly and gently until icing comes out. Apply the icing directly to the cookies.

Take your time until you get a good technique with the icing bag.

Step 4

If you are decorating houses: The icing will be labeled as thick in one bag (cement) and a little bit thinner in the other bag (flood). The thicker icing (cement) is designed to hold heavy candies in place and create things like hanging icicles.

Step 5

If you are decorating a house: Thinner (flood) icing is used for thinner lines such as writing or drawing bricks on walls. You can also use it to completely paint the surface of the roof or create swimming pools and pathways.

Royal Icing will take about 6 hours to completely set.

Note: When you are decorating keep the open tip of the icing bag covered with food wrap or a damp paper towel. Royal icing will dry and harden very quickly if not covered.
